It belongs to the family Campanulaceae and it originates from Europe, North America and Asia. The variety “appeal” is characterized by its erect shape (because of the habit of its lower branches it grows naturally in the shape of a pyramid), its hard and light-green leaves and its giant flowers which appears as blue or pink bells gathered in groups that fill the whole stem. It is less rustic than the classic bellflower, it requires less watering and higher temperatures.

It is a herbaceous and perennial plant in the family Asteraceae hailing from southern Africa. It appears as a bush with dark-green or sometimes even silver leaves and it produces a peculiar flower which resembles a giant, brightly coloured daisy. It can be yellow, orange or pink, with darker shades on the petals (“Big Kiss” variety). A peculiarity of the gazania is that the flowers shut at nighttime and open again the following morning.
The Sanvitalia (Sanvitalia procumbens) is an annual plant suitable for borders and rocky gardens, which produces countless little yellow flowers throughout the summer and late autumn. It originates from Mexico.
Gypsophila is a perennial plant in the family Caryophyllaceae which originates from Europe and Western Asia. It looks like a bush and it bears on all the length of its thin stems numerous white or pink flowers. Because of its compact shape it is commonly called “baby’s-breath” and, in addition to being an ornamental plant for borders, it is used to make bouquets for brides (another common name is, as a matter of fact, “bridal veil”).
The scientific name Leucanthemum Vulgare identifies one of the most common daisies. It has a thick and well branched bush and it produces the classical flower head with the yellow central disk and with white petals.
Freesia is a genus of herbaceous plants hailing from southern Africa which includes about fifteen botanical species. They all produce small round corms. It is suitable for Mediterranean climates and is rather sensitive to cold. Every single bulb produces a small tuft of ribbon-like, erect, fairly rigid, light-green leaves; from the center of the leaves during the summer a thin and erect stem develops, bearing numerous small trumpet-shaped flowers. It blooms during the spring and it needs direct sunlight.
The Cuphea, hailing from Mexico, Peru and central-southern America, produces peculiar, long-lasting, tubular flowers which can be either red or pink: mostly cultivated as an outdoor plant, it has the appearance of a very thick and decorative bush about 80 cm high (30 cm for dwarf varieties). Its blooming is ideal to give a special feeling to a summer terrace. It fears extreme temperatures (both low and high) and it needs abundant watering during summer.
