The Carissa macrocarpa (or grandiflora) is a genus in the family Apocynaceae and it originates from the sub-tropical regions of South Africa. For this reason it is also known as Natal Plum, from the name of a Southafrican province. It is an evergreen thorny shrub that produces oval, fleshy and bright green leaves and beautifully scented, star-shaped white flowers. Like all the plants in its family, the Carissa is poisonous but it produces small, egg-shaped, red fruits which are perfectly edible once ripe.

The Lippia Citriodora belongs to the family Verbenaceae. It is an aromatic plant that, if lightly touched, it spreads an aromatic and unmistakable lemon fragrance in the air. Like all the aromatic herbs, it hardly tolerates stagnant water but, at the same time, it needs abundant watering. Blooming occurs from June to August and even up to the beginning of autumn in areas with mild climate.
It originates from the Mediterranean basin but it is spread in India and in some Atlantic islands. It is a herbaceous, perennial and evergreen plant belonging to the family Labiatae. The leaves, narrow and elongated, end with an ear-shaped inflorescence of violet/purple color. Inside of this there are glands containing the base aromatic oil for the production of various fragrances used in the cosmetics and as a spice in the kitchen. The Stoechas variety has slightly silver leaves and it produces larger dark purple flowers, surmounted by a characteristic tuft of purple bracts.
Jasmine is a genus in the family Oleaceae which includes more than 300 varieties. It originates from China and North America, as well as India and some mediterranean areas. It is a climbing shrub that produces tubular, starry, five-petalled flowers with a characteristic and intense sweet scent, They are generally pure white, although yellow and pink-shaded varieties exist as well. According to the tradition, for a long time the family Medici safeguarded a unique specimen of this plant forbidding its circulation until a gardener furtively offered a twig to his beloved. She later became rich and the two could eventually marry: hence the custom of giving a bundle of Jasmine as a gift to brides.
It is an evergreen shrub originating from the temperate regions in Asia and in South America (variety “Capensis” or “Auricolata”) and it belongs to the Plumbaginaceae family. It has a basically climbing shape, it has small, oval and light green leaves and it produces typical light blue flowers (for this reason it is usually known as “Blue sky jasmine”; there is also a variety with red flowers, “Plumbago Indica” or “Rosea”) collected in big spikes.
It is an evergreen climbing plant belonging to the Apocinaceae and it originates from Southern America. The Mandevillea Suaveolens is vaguely similar to the Dipladenia but it’s different from it because its leaves are bigger, wrinkled (particularly evident in the “Alice du Pont”) and brighter. It is different as well for the size of the flowers that are larger and slightly perfumed.
It is an evergreen plant belonging to the family Cactaceae. It has an erect trunk and it can reach several meters in height. The leaves, called shovels are oval and they are covered by small thorns: at the end of these shovels, during the spring, the flowers (yellow-red) come out and then they turn into fruits. It has scarce water needs and it even withstands harsh winters. Blooming starts during the summer and it lasts until autumn.
