Gypsophila is a perennial plant in the family Caryophyllaceae which originates from Europe and Western Asia. It looks like a bush and it bears on all the length of its thin stems numerous white or pink flowers. Because of its compact shape it is commonly called “baby’s-breath” and, in addition to being an ornamental plant for borders, it is used to make bouquets for brides (another common name is, as a matter of fact, “bridal veil”).

Coreopsis look like small shining suns, very easy to cultivate, both in pots and in the garden. There are many species of Coreopsis but the most common are Coreopsis Grandiflora and Coreopsis Lanceolata. Originating from North America, even if they are perennials they tend to dry completely during the winter and then they reappear at the beginning of the spring. They prefer sunny places and they don’t fear the cold.
It certainly is the most common plant in the countryside and in the meadows around the world. The daisy is a perennial plant belonging to Asteraceae family and it originates from the Canary Islands. It has a thick and a well branched bush and produces the classical flower with the yellow central disc and white petals (there are as well hybrid varieties with colored petals, yellow, pink or light blue). Thanks to its abundant and long lasting blooming it is ideal to decorate borders and gardens.
The Surfinia is a hybrid that was born in Japan from the botanical experimentation on the Petunia. Therefore, with its “mother”, the Surfinia shares the Central/Southern American geographical origin and the belonging to the family Solanacee. It is different from the “mother” for the hanging shape and for the dimensions and the colors of the flowers that are bigger than it. The foliage is covered by down and it is slightly sticky; the characteristic trumpet inflorescence blooms only at the end of the hanging branches.
The Lisianthus (or Eustoma) is a young plant: it was discovered in the Usa in the XIX century and transported to Europe at the beginning of the ‘900. It belongs to the family Gentianaceae. It is cultivated for ornamental purposes in pots and for the trade of cut flowers that are very appreciated for their simple and elegant design; it is characterized by slow growth and it blooms throughout the summer.
It belongs to the family Asteraceae and it originates from America, in particular from Mexico. It is a perennial herbaceous plant. It is cultivated and used in order to embellish flowerbeds and to create borders in the gardens. It is suitable for decorating terraces and balconies.
The Pentas Lanceolata originates from Africa and the Middle East and it is widespread in cultivation. It is a perennial plants which, in right climatic conditions, blooms for a long period of time: if the heat is sufficient, blooming starts at the end of the winter and it lasts until autumn. Pentas are very suitable for butterfly gardens, meaning that their continuous blooming attracts butterflies, bees and other useful insects. They prefer sunny positions, they well withstand the heat. Watering should be regular.
