It belongs to the family Liliacae and it originates from Southern Europe and Western Asia. It is a bulbous perennial plant with erect shape. It has bright green and long leaves. It produces a peculiar panicle-shaped inflorescence with many small flowers with orange petals (there is also the “Arabicum” variety with white flowers) that reminds exactly the cockscomb.

Coreopsis look like small shining suns, very easy to cultivate, both in pots and in the garden. There are many species of Coreopsis but the most common are Coreopsis Grandiflora and Coreopsis Lanceolata. Originating from North America, even if they are perennials they tend to dry completely during the winter and then they reappear at the beginning of the spring. They prefer sunny places and they don’t fear the cold.
The Lisianthus (or Eustoma) is a young plant: it was discovered in the Usa in the XIX century and transported to Europe at the beginning of the ‘900. It belongs to the family Gentianaceae. It is cultivated for ornamental purposes in pots and for the trade of cut flowers that are very appreciated for their simple and elegant design; it is characterized by slow growth and it blooms throughout the summer.
It belongs to the Violaceae family and it originates from Europe and America. It is a small and evergreen plant known for its white, yellow, orange, red, lilac, violet or speckled bicolor flowers. It is a green light bush with little and curved leaves. The shades of the colors are different and there are varieties with petals that have a dark spot inside (“Pansy” or “Saint Joseph violet”, since the shades remind the ones of the cape of the Saint). In the mild climate zones the blooming could be forced and it is in autumn until winter.
The scientific name Leucanthemum Vulgare identifies one of the most common daisies. It has a thick and well branched bush and it produces the classical flower head with the yellow central disk and with white petals.
The Pentas Lanceolata originates from Africa and the Middle East and it is widespread in cultivation. It is a perennial plants which, in right climatic conditions, blooms for a long period of time: if the heat is sufficient, blooming starts at the end of the winter and it lasts until autumn. Pentas are very suitable for butterfly gardens, meaning that their continuous blooming attracts butterflies, bees and other useful insects. They prefer sunny positions, they well withstand the heat. Watering should be regular.

Thanks to its rich and long lasting blooming, with electric blue flowers, it is used for the borders. It looks like a thick bush with small and dark green leaves. It produces peculiar light blue little flowers.
