The species Campsis grandiflora (synonyms are Bignonia grandiflora, Campsis chinensis, Tecoma grandiflora) originates from Japan and China. It is a fragile plant, it doesn’t withstand low winter temperatures and it isn’t particularly rustic. It has an impressive development. It blooms at the beginning of the summer (June) and for the whole summertime (September). They have to be transplanted in full sun and regularly watered.

Anigozanthos is commonly known as “kangaroo paw” because of the shape of its flowers. It is a rhizomatous perennial plant hailing from Austrialia. It prefers sunny or semi-shaded places; these plants do not fear the cold and they can withstand periods of intense cold. Sometimes during the winter it loses the aerial part which they grow back in spring. A watery lymph is stored in the roots of the plant, which allows it to withstand long periods of drought without problems.
Exuberant and unusual, the Penstemons bloom throughout the summer, bringing joy and color even when the other plants, for the oppressive heat, take a break. It originates from North America and it belongs to a particularly small variety that grows in the mountains on stony ground, very close to the ground. The plant forms several spikes, which are covered with many small flowers similar to the bells: blue, purple and red. It needs full sun and it is resistant to cold.
The national flower of South Carolina, gelsemium is a pant in the family Loganiaceae and in fact it is native to central and northern America. This climbing, evergreen plant is very rustic and resistant. It has thin, elongated, light-green leaves and it produces little funnel-shaped, fragrant, yellow flowers. Since its appearance and its scent vaguely resemble those of jasmines, gelsemum is also commonly known as “yellow jasmine”.

Iberis is a perennial and herbaceous plant in the family Brassicaceae hailing from Southern Europe and Western Asia. It has oval, leathery and dark-green leaves and it produces white, yellow or pink flowers, which are collected in small bunches making iberis an ideal plant for decorating borders and rocky gardens.
It is a very beautiful and evergreen shrub originating from China: it is a slow-growing plant, with glossy and coriaceous foliage preferably to be cultivated in open ground; throughout the spring numerous small pink or white star flowers bloom at the apex of the branches. It has to be placed in a well-lit place, in the sun or in partial shade; it prefers rich and fertile soils. It suffers from excessive humidity. It tolerates both drought and frost quite well, and it can resist in the garden even if temperatures fall below -10/-15° C.
