The Boronia is an Australian genus belonging to the family Rutaceae: after a revision, around 150 species, all australian, were confirmed to be in this genus. They mostly are shrubs of small and medium dimensions. The fragrance of the Boronia is quite complex, strong and aromatic, with a citrus scents. Its cultivation is regarded as very difficult, as it requires particular conditions: partial shade in a sheltered position, sandy, moist yet well drained soil, which must be neutral or subacid.
