It is a perennial herbaceous plant originating from Southern Africa. The freesia genus includes about fifteen botanical species that produce small round corms. The Freesia is suitable for Mediterranean climates, but is rather sensitive to cold. Every single bulb produces a small tuft of light green, ribbon-like, erect, fairly rigid and fleshy leaves; from the center of the leaves during the summer a thin and erect stem develops, that brings numerous small trumpet flowers. It blooms during the spring, it needs sunny positions and it fears the cold.
