It is a perennial shrub in the family Asteraceae, hailing from Asia and Africa. The helichrysum has elongated, light-green leaves from which the erect stems with the characteristic large, daisy-shaped flowers grow. They can be golden yellow or glossy violet, and they have a papery consistency . They do not wither but they dry while keeping intact the shape and aroma and, thus the common name “everlasting flower”. For this reason, they are considered to be very decorative.
