It is a small perennial plant, cultivated as an annual plant. The Verbena belongs to the family Verbenaceae and it originates from Central and South America and from Europe. It has hanging shape and long branches. The light green leaves are small, oval, sharp, dentate and with marked veins. It produces small and strongly perfumed flowers, variously colored, from white to pink, red, purple and speckled bicolor. The flowers are collected in spikes at the end of the branches. According to the tradition it is a holy plant and it has curative, analgesic and healing properties.
It is a succulent and evergreen in the family Aizoaceae, hailing from South Africa. It is a particularly suitable plant for creating coloured spots in the gardens.
It is an evergreen shrub in the family Malvaceae, hailing from Asia (Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis) and widespread throughout Europe and in the tropical areas of America. It has large indented and glossy green leaves and it produces five-petalled, funnel-shaped flowers, which are quite large and brightly coloured, from white to pink, to yellow, orange, and of course the iconic deep red. Delosperma is a genus in the family Aizoaceae and it originates from South Africa. It is a branchy dwarf succulent which bears numerous flowers similar to little red, yellow or white daisies. They open up with sunlight and close their petals with the dark. Its leaves are fleshy, thin and elongated; since the vegetation never reaches excessive dimensions, this plant is ideal for long-lastin, resistant blooming borders. The variety “Cooperi” is known for being perennial and for its large, fuchsia flowers.
The genus Euphorbia is very wide and heterogenous: the variety Milli, hailing from Southern Africa, is a half-succulent with fleshy trunks and typical flowers, called cyathia, belonging to all the species in the genus. The common name of the Euphorbia Milii is Christ thorn, because according to the legend it’s the plant used in making the crown of thorns placed on the head of Jesus Christ. The flower blooms throughout the year, however it fears the cold.
Gaura is a perennial plant hailing from North America, mostly from Texas, in the family Onagraceae. As its origin might suggest, it is a rustic and resistant plant.
