Euonymus japonicus is an evergreen shrub native to Japan, belonging to the Celastraceae family. It is highly valued for its ornamental foliage. This plant is very hardy and adapts well to different climates. It tolerates both heat and cold, although in particularly cold areas it is advisable to protect it from severe frost. It prefers temperate, well-ventilated climates, while it struggles in overly humid environments or areas with poor air circulation.

It requires regular watering during the summer, while in winter it’s best to reduce the frequency, always avoiding waterlogging, which could damage the roots. The ideal soil is well-drained, even if poor, but not too compact. Pruning is done in spring or summer, either to maintain the desired shape or to encourage denser growth.
