perennial herbaceous plants, with a fleshy and well-formed root system; in spring they produce long tufts of thin, broad leaves up to 100-120 cm tall, sometimes covered with fine down. They produce long tubular flower buds with a velvety appearance, brightly colored and very decorative. The plant grown in a pot normally grows to a height of 60 cm.
