It is a medium-sized, fast-growing deciduous shrub with long arching shoots. Leaves opposite, lanceolate, greyish green. Summer flowering of fragrant flowers gathered in panicles up to 30 cm long. of color ranging from lilac to cyclamen which attract butterflies. In fact it is called the butterfly plant.
